About Me

From Walmart to The White House, The Daily Blonde posts her commentary on daily life without sugar coating. The Daily Blonde is simply a daily dose of reality.

2008

I created The Daily Blonde in a moment of boredom. Stuck on the couch recovering from extensive knee surgery after a car accident, I decided that I’d get back to basics and use writing as good pain therapy. I’ve been writing since I could hold a pencil in my hand but the busy life of a single mom to five seemed to put writing low on the list. Blogging seemed to me like a good outlet while going stir crazy after what turned out to be 3 surgeries and more than two years of continuous issues after the accident.

I was born in New Jersey and grew up in Massachusetts. I was the third child of two incredibly intelligent, funny and loving parents. Since both of my parents have passed away over the past few years, I’ve made it my mission to always add humor to all I do. They made me laugh so much as a child I felt it was only right for me to carry on their legacy of laughter.

I live life without a filter on my mouth. I say it like it is but never with the intent to hurt…just to share a laugh about this crazy thing called life! I might be a little bold for some but I love reality. I don’t sugar-coat anything unless it’s something I can eat.

This isn’t a typical Mommy blog. In fact, I don’t think I’m a mommy blogger at all. I am, however, a Mom. My children are 25, 24, 14, 12 and 9. I have been a single Mom for almost nine years…with the three youngest still at home, there is never a dull moment around here!

Hope you enjoy the foolishness of The Daily Blonde! Oh, and by the way…I do know that “Blonde” is mis-spelled. I did that on purpose…you didn’t think I was a real blond, did you? :)

Cheers!

Bio: Cheryl Phillips is a single Mom of five and full-time freelance writer who realized that Twitter was created so that she would stop being so long-winded. On her blog, The Daily Blonde, Cheryl posts her commentary on daily life and says what we’re all thinking without the sugar coating. Sometimes she writes something deep and thoughtful….but mostly, she likes to keep people thinking she has a flighty, Tinkerbell personality.

Cheryl writes health, real estate and lifestyle articles for GoLocalProv.com and loves being a part of a locally based team. In addition, Cheryl has 9 columns on Examiner.com, including a long-standing social media column, a health column, celebrity social media and a RI business news column.

She was recently named on the list of Top 25 Writers to Follow on Twitter and the Top Ten Female Twitter Users in the World. She was part of a panel for the First Rhode Island Tweet-Up and was featured in an article in Rhode Island Monthly Magazine. (see “press” tab)

Cheryl and her passion for blogging were featured nationwide a segment produced by the Ivanhoe Broadcast News in 2009. Cheryl served on the faculty of the Fishful Thinking program sponsored by Pepperidge Farm Goldfish from April 2009 ’til the end of June 2009. Fishful Thinking is a program designed to promote optimism in children.

Cheryl believes that laughing prevents wrinkles, chocolate solves most problems, hair dye is pure genius and growing up is over-rated.

Hi there, I actually messed up the address of my mom's shop. It's hotpinkchick.etsy.com Sorry!

  2. Maddie on July 15, 2010 at 4:12 am

I really love your blog, I just read a few articles. I just saw you in a video on social networking and things of that sort. My mom has an etsy shop.. if you go to http://www.etsy.com/hotpinkchick that's her stuff. :) I hope you like it. She sells handmade jewelry. And she spends a lot of time on the computer at home trying to get her store out there. Her one year anniversary is coming really soon and she is hoping to hit 600 sales by then. If you could spread the word to some friends, that would be great. And feel free to email me. :) bye.

    Hello,
I read your article on the site “Examiner.com” about Malcolm mac Laren
    (http://www.examiner.com/x-40156-Celebrity-Social-... )
, and I wanted to know which is the newspaper of which you show the photograph of Malcolm mac Laren, because I would wish to find a specimen of this newspaper.

    In advance, I thank you.

Cheryl: Simply Lite chocolate, a low carb, alternatively sweetened chocolate is virtually indistiguishable to the pure fattening thing. WOuld you like to try a few samples? It's at Trader Joes.

A bit of writers cramp, led me to the thesis theme showcase and I found your blog. I thought I was the only one after some 50 odd pages that had a sharp tongue.

ipad article was something I wouldn't touch as a topic, so thank you for clearing the matter up for me!

Keep sticking it to them, I will be back!

Hi Cheryl, found your blog by accident; but then again, there really are no accidents. I think your blog is intriguing and blonde – two excellent combinations, if I do say so myself! Thought I would reach out to you and ask what web host you are using or if you could recommend a good web host. I am dizzy with all the options out there. From one blonde to another – this "newbie" thanks you! ;^)

hey, I am a man and love your blog.

You probably get tired of blond jokes, but I just came across this one from Michael Smalley's 13 year old, and I thought it was sort of unique enough you might enjoy it.

My 13-year old's joke for me today, "What do you do if a blonde throws a grenade at you? …. Pull the pin and throw it back at her!"

    Hi,
I stumbled into your blog after falling through a series of rabbit holes (otherwise known as “web surfing”). I just wanted to say that your writing is REALLY brilliant. The lap dance post was the perfect Friday-afternoon-spiritual-humor-siesta. Have you thought about putting a series of your posts together and giving the on demand self publishing thing a go? Lulu is pretty elegant http://www.lulu.com/. BTW I have no stock in Lulu;-) Wishing you great success in every aspect of your life.

    Cheers,

    John

Hey, I have given you the Queen of All Things Awe-Summm Award on my blog. Just stop by, pick it up, and pass it on to seven other “queens.” Now I’m off to read your newest post…

  28. The Daily Blonde on April 20, 2009 at 8:33 pm

Kimberly…you are so awesome!! Thanks–when I read comments like these I am more inspired to keep at it. For me, writing a bit of foolishness is great therapy. I think it’s a serious world with so much to worry about and we all need a humor break.
I take nothing for granted–but I do try to get a good laugh in each day!

  29. The Daily Blonde on April 20, 2009 at 8:28 pm

Oliva…thank you so much. Your comment means a lot.

  30. Kimberly on April 20, 2009 at 8:16 pm

I love your blog and recommend it to everyone! You make me laugh so hard with your quick one liners… well, actually a lot of one liners ;) I look forward to reading your blog everyday. Your posts are clever, funny and uplifting. Best blog I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I look you up online everyday. That’s how I found your new blog BTW.

You are really an awesome, hilarious, and funny lady. Some lucky guy’s gonna snatch you up and I can’t wait to read about that!
