The Daily Blonde on Kindle
When I heard about Kindle I was a little skeptical. I like reading my newspapers and books the way they were meant to be: on paper. However, this Kindle thing got my interest until I realized that it would cost me about two weeks worth of groceries to buy one. Forgetaboutit. The kids would not be thrilled knowing we couldn’t eat for two weeks just so I could read my blog while I was at the dentist.
Huh? My blog? That’s right. Kindle, the electronic item I can’t afford but would really love to try (nice birthday gift), now hosts blogs. Mine. Probably a bazillion others as well. I found out about this through advertiser and fellow Tweeter @mdsuburbs, who now has his blog on Kindle. Since I’m nosy and want to be up on all of this stuff, I figured I’d give it a try.
Whooop….there it is!
Easy to set up and hey…maybe one of my subscribers will find me on Kindle and give me some feedback. I’d like to know how easy to read it is and if it’s really worth having one of those Kindle thingamabobs that I’d sort of like for my birthday that’s coming up in a few days. But then again, I think eating is far more important. I’ll continue to read blogs on line and my newspaper with my morning V-8…and my books while I am at the beach. Unless I happen to get a Kindle in the mail because someone thought I should have one.

I inherited a kindle from my FIL. I’m spoiled- cause he still pays for my uploads!
While I sometimes miss the feel of a real book in my hands, but I love that I can get a new book at midnight, or when I’m sick in bed! I mean, how cool is that? I love the wireless feature- that you can get a book anywhere!
I do have issues w/ the way they mark the book pages- use the bookmark feature!!! and that if I want to go back and reread something, it’s hard to do. For that reason, I really only download fun novels and such.
I love my kindle, but don’t think I would have gotten one if I had to pay for it myself!
I was very apprehensive about getting a Kindle because I love books and everything associated with them. I spend a lot of time in book stores exploring and reading with a cup of coffee. But, I succommbed to my desire and bought one. I absolutely love it. It is so much easier to carry around and I have such a variety of things to read at my disposal at all times. I hope I haven’t contributed to the demise of the bookstore because I love both mediums and I think there’s room for both. My son is starting college and I am hoping I can get him the DX so he won’t have to haul around all those heavy textbooks.
As a Kindle Fanatic I totally had to go over there and list my blog on Amazon after this. (Check out today’s post if you want to see what it ended up looking like)
I’ve had my Kindle now for 5 months and I adore it. I read now more than I ever have but I never use it for blogs or online content. The experimental browser just isn’t strong enough. Plus I can read the same blogs via my iphone on the go for free so the subscription price for content just doesn’t make $en$e. For that reason I don’t think the Kindle will ever take off as a “blog reader” – despite my blog now being listed LOL.
If you are a reader though.. don’t be deterred by the initial cost. Add up what you pay for books each year… (upwards of $25 each??) and then think of the savings you’ll realize with lower price of books (Most less than $10) I’m pretty sure if I go back and do the math after a year I will have at least saved back the cost of the unit if not more.
I’ve had my Kindle for about 9 months now and I LOVE it! I have not subscribed to any blogs, yet though.
I’ve always loved reading, but I always thought it was the feel of the paper, the smell of the pages and ink that added to the reading experience for me. I was wrong. Since getting the Kindle, I haven’t touched a normal book and I am NEVER without my Kindle.
If there were a fire in my house and I could only take 3 things with me, I would grab my husband, my dog, and my Kindle. It’s the BEST invention ever.
I, too, was also worried about the readability factor, but I have found it extremely easy. You can also change the font size (the biggest font is pretty large) so it’s easier to read even when your eyes are hurting or you’ve left your glasses at home. =)
I wouldn’t trade my Kindle for anything.
I’m with you and some good ol’ fashioned but classic paper books.
I agree! I can’t give that up!
Hey thanks for the lead. Will check it out, fo sho!
The Old Silly from Free Spirit Blog
Do it up, Marvin!!!!
You are the best!
How do you do that? ask amazon? Can I bribe you with some chocolate?
It’s magic…what kind of chocolate….??? hmmm…OK…no bribe needed! Just go to Amazon and find their kindle site. You can sign up there!
Well I do have a kindle and I must say, I love it. I have not however subcribed to any blogs. Maybe I’ll give it a try if you won’t be too disappointed if I cancel the subscription. Anyway, I highly recommend the kindle – your pages don’t fly around in the wind while at the beach!
I won’t be disappointed! I would love it if someone would tell me if it looks decent on Kindle!
As soon as I get my Kindle I’m subscribing to The Daily Blonde!
Meanwhile, I’ll read your stuff here. So far I think there are only a little over 4000 blogs on the Kindle but I’m sure that number will get bigger. Just gotta figure out how to get the word out to the people who do have Kindles.
Thanks for the shout out!
Ken, you rock!
Woot! I have had a Sony eBook for years and LOVE IT! Best companion when traveling and/or can’t make it (tear myself off the sofa on a Sunday afternoon) to purchase the latest book craving. I have been drooling over the Kindle for quite some time but my snotty nosed kid (who’s the boss here anyway!) tells me that I don’t NEED it! hey….my birthday is coming up soon too! Perhaps some sucker **kind person** will indulge us! We are fabulous, after all!
Hey….your blog is on the Kindle..!!?? Please excuse me, I have some research to do. *how did she do that???*
